In the United States for the most part there are two prevailing political parties one of them being the Republican party (which I mention first because I am one) and the Democratic party. This holding true even though there are several other parties as the United States is a democracy that allows other parties though it does not really do much to encourage them. These other parties being the Libertarians, Communists, Socialists, Independents and others. As for the primaries they are basically what could be classified as an internal election within the Republican and Democratic parties (among those voters who are registered in the party) to chose which of their candidates will represent the party in the “General Election” which is the one that actually determines who will occupy the “White House” for the four years to follow.

Biden is liked by people that want to be tough on crime, if they know that he wrote the Violent Crime control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994. The bill enlarged the span of crimes that are punishable by the death penalty. Though they would like him even more if he hadn't voted contrary to limiting appeals for capitol cases. People that agree that drug offenders shouldn't be put in prison find his stance appealing. These are usually people that think marijuana smokers shouldn't be put in jail.

After weeks of increasingly dismal reports from the financial sector, many regular Americans are beginning to worry that the US may be close to or already in recession. While government intervention in the economy is relatively uncommon in US history, since its establishment in the 1930's, the Federal Reserve has been able to manipulate interest rates, giving them the power to make all real estate loans more or less expensive by some degree, which comes with a hefty responsibility: controlling inflation.

I've had some friends tell me that we (hunters and other outdoor folk) are in for a bad time because the Democrats are in the drivers seat. I suppose if you are a hunter on the level of the Bushes and Cheneys you might see a change or two. Personally, I expect things to improve. The next time I'm lifting a cold one with Warren Buffet, I'll ask him what we can expect.
