Yet another celebrity figure has been spotted on a Spanish holiday recently. Soccer star Peter Crouch was photographed relaxing aboard a sailboat just off the coast of Ibiza in July. He was enjoying the afternoon with his celebrity girlfriend, Abbey Clancy. The pair has been dating since 2006. They've been an item long enough for Clancy to be referred to by British press as an official 'WAG'.

The measure of an athlete on the world stage is not simply how popular or highly regarded they are in their own sport, but how well known they are to people outside of the sport. When an athlete breaks the bounds of their own notoriety and becomes a household name to people who can't name anything else in their sport of choice they are truly a superstar. Football souvenirs and memorabilia are extremely popular amongst avid fans of the game allowing them to take a memory of a match away with them or enabling them to obtain a piece of sporting history. Ultimately they give the collector the opportunity to commemorate a special occasion or a particularly adept player. Events range from FA cup final to even league matches that were exceptionally hard fought or important. Players however may be ones that have long since retired and by obtaining souvenirs from their time of playing it is possible to gain a representation of the skill and the fame of these individuals. That is not to say that all football souvenirs have to be linked to a particular game or player, just as popular are items like mugs, posters and replica shirts that give the collector a piece of their team to see or use every day.

The Premier League format that emerged in England and that was later replicated in Scotland has been a resounding success. In 1992 the top tier of English football broke away from the Football League and has flourished with the backing of Sky TV. Scottish clubs followed suit in 1998 to form the Scottish Premier League (SPL), with Setanta Sports currently providing improved terms to extend their deal.

Another interesting weekend of results in the English Premier League. There were some wonderful goals scored as well as some shock results. In total, there were 23 goals scored and 3 red cards given out.

There's a reason why football is called football. There's also a reason why football is not called mouthball or verbalball. Unfortunately, nowadays we see more talking being done with the mouth rather than with the foot. People may say that this serves to build up the hype and tension of a football game. The 2009 Major League Soccer season is well underway, and the teams are already trying to make a name for themselves in the league. Stars from each of the teams are already emerging and drawing spotlight, but they aren't the only ones working hard. For FC Dallas, the coaching staff has been the behind the scenes force helping the team try to raise their standing in the league. They tied the Seattle Sounders FC on May 16, bringing their record to 1-6-2 in the Western Division.
